Job Description
The Printing Adjacencies and 3D Printing Lab of HP Labs is seeking an individual to join our group as a research scientist in the field of machine learning. The candidate will research and develop scalable machine learning models based on HP device telemetry and customer service datasets and work with other research team members and business unit partners to develop proof-of-concept prototypes and help move the technologies to market.
The candidate should ideally have an MS or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related discipline and with expertise in machine learning. Advanced BS/BE candidates with significant experience and demonstrated track record may also be considered.

Key Skills Of The Successful Candidate May Include
Broad knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, or data mining

Strong applied maths background in numerical linear algebra, optimization, graph theory etc

Stochastics & statistics background including probability theory, Monte Carlo, hypothesis testing

Industry experience building systems based on machine learning techniques

Experience with linux, AWS cloud, git etc

Prototyping and programming skills in C, C++, Python, Java, Matlab or R

HP Labs research scientists are expected to undertake research programs which will advance the state of the art and have a significant business impact for HP. The ideal candidate will have the ability to formulate research problems from real-world application. Also, the candidate should be able to collaborate with other researchers, developers, strategists, and product managers on new applications. Strong communication skills are required, and the ability to drive research results into products is highly valued.
